Jacque Jones was out-righted to the 'Topes .
Jacque Jones cleared waivers and was out-righted to Triple A Albuquerque (N.M.) on Monday. But the outfielder, who was designated for assignment by the Marlins after he managed only four hits in 37 at-bats for a .108 average, has not decided whether to accept the minor-league assignment or become a free agent.
In other words he has been removed from the 40-man roster and he now has the option whether to report to Albuquerque or try his luck as a free agent. I have no idea which he will choose. But considering the Tigers are on the hook for most of his salary and he cleared waivers despite that fact, if he wants to stay in baseball, his best bet is probably to accept the assignment.
But that is up to him.
