Breakout the brooms Florida because: The NL East Leading Marlins are going for the sweep against the NL West Leading Diamondbacks.

And it won't be easy.

Miller has been better of late, and hopefully he will continue to improve.  If he brings his A-stuff and is able to get it over the plate, he should be fine.  If not, the bullpen will have a busy night.  How well he does in the first inning could be the tell.

Haren is next on the list of excellent Diamondback starters.  He has make 9 starts this season and 8 of them have been quality starts.  Haren induces more ground ball outs than fly ball outs.  But here is the good news: he has a home ERA of 2.27 versus an on the road ERA of 5.09.  And last time I checked, JRS isn't in Arizona.

Ichthyomancy is up and running, to where no one knows, but it is running.  Good Luck!

.02 about Hanley

Bat the freaking guy lead off. It’s not like we’re hurting for bats farther down the order, and it’s not like Hanley’s some big lumbering dude. I don’t care if Hanley ever bats farther down. The dude is fast and he could work on becoming a better walker and base stealer, hit his .320-.330 with 25 HR and 90 RBIs per year. Tack on 50-60 SBs and everybody’s happy. Sure, farther down the order he could probably crank out 30 HR and 100+ RBIs per year but who cares if you’ve got Uggla/Jacobs/Hammer or similar guys.

1st inning is key for Miller...

I agree with your point. A little luck in the first may be needed.

Nice job by Nolasco last night

I have him on a fantasy team.

I agree on the slumping and not the order. I prefer him at 3, but don’t see that much of a difference in the lineup either way.

Ode to Alfredo Amezega...

Let me start by saying I have never seen Jacques Jones play. I hear he is a lifetime .280 hitter. I hear he had a bad start in Detroit this season. I hear he is not a “true” center fielder. The Marlins are nearing that point in the season where getting that one key guy could put them over the top in their bid for the ‘08 playoffs. Hopefully Jones is that guy. However let’s not forget what Alfredo has brought to the team this year. Speed. Clutch fielding. Versatility…and a .254 average. The average while not that impressive could be somewhat artificially low because he is constantly being called upon to bunt. He has a good eye at the plate and has walked a fair bit. His base running can best be described as breathtaking. As we have seen these past two nights he actually is a pretty good slap hitter. And defensively he is fast and has mastered the the diving/sliding catch in a outfield that can only be described as “huge”, that requires a fast man.
I do not like platooning players. Cody Ross is also an exciting player in a different, more powerful kind of way and Jones should get his chance, but I think Alfredo has talent and might be a lead off hitter-Mickey Rivers type guy if given the job in center. Right now he is red hot and should definitely keep playing until Jones is adjusted back to the majors.

Congrats to Andrew Miller. A night like tonight can do a lot for a young pitcher’s confidence…especially one with a 97 mph fastball!

Go Marlins!
