Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Diamondbacks at Marlins (5/20)
Arizona Diamondbacks @ Florida Marlins
The NL East Leading Marlins will welcome the NL West Leading Diamondbacks to JRS tonight.
The D'backs have the best record in baseball. We had that not that long ago, but since then the Marlins lost five of their last six games, while Arizona has won five of their last six.
As for the pitching match ups for the series, the Fish will not be favored in any of the three games. But tonight is as close as we are going to get. All of that said, it doesn't mean we are going to lose. It just means the guys and gals in Vegas aren't betting on us. But what do they know.
Hendrickson needs to return to form and actually not throw over 100 pitches by the fourth. The good thing about Hendrickson, is that even when he is having an off-day, he normally keeps the game close.
Owings in his only start against the Marlins last season only lasted three innings and gave up four runs. Of course, he did hit a two-run blast while he was in the game. Owings is one the best, if not the best, hitting pitchers in the game today. For the most part, he has been very good this year, but does throw clunker every now and then.
Ichthyomancy is ready to see some action and so the very Best of Luck to you!

Happy Birthday to you!
Although anti-Marlins AAB picks are scientifically proven to decrease birthday fun by 15%.
Aside from that, hope you have a great one!

At the start of the inning Rich was talking about some player's nickname....
I caught the very end of it. Did you happen to hear what he said?

At tonight's game...
If I go to 20 more games this year, I doubt I’ll see a better win. Everything worked tonight for the Marlins. Clutch hitting, broken bat doubles, fantastic base running, clutch starting pitching, incredible close by Gregg. Even a nice web gem for Uggla…and he continues his red hot hitting…May MVP? Obviously Pinto could not find the plate and almost lost the game…Cantu is no Brooks Robinson…and the fans have yet to discover this lovable team…
But again, great vibe in the stadium. Everyone was pulling for the Fish and I would say that most of the 6-7,000(?) actual fans in attendance stayed for the happy conclusion.
BTW, I took advantage of the 2 for Tuesday promotion and got a great deal along with a decent seat between first base and the bullpen. Almost cheaper to see the Marlins than to go to the movies. Go Fish!
