Marlins to Sign Jones
Recently on MLB Trade Rumors, there has been a post about the Marlins signing Jones. John C. Rodriguez reports that the Marlins "could sign Jones by this evening." It should be an upgrade over Amezaga in center. A lot of people forget that he hit 27 homers with the Cubs in '06. But Jones might also seek employment somewhere closer to his home, such as San Diego. What do you guys think about this transaction?

I wasn't too crazy about it...
Then I saw his splits against righties and it’s respectable. Better than what we’ve got now.
Career vs. RHP: .291/.340/.479
2005-2007 vs. RHP: .285/.346/.465
An OPS over .800 is never too shabby. At worst he’s a better platoon in center than Amezaga. Cody can mash lefties and Jacque can hit the righties, so that works for me. Pretty durable too, with at least 500 AB from 2002-2006.
Considering he’s costing us nothing, I’ll take it.
Same guys traded last season
Do you guys forget that a trade was reported last season that the Marlins traded Amazega for J. Jones last season. For some reason one of the teams backed out.
If “Amazing” could duplicate his serviceable #s from the past 2 seasons I wouldn’t mind him leading off (I do like Hanley in the 3rd spot). But, and .OPS barely over .600 is disgusting for a full-time player. I would have liked him to get out of this funk b/c I think he is great on defense. Cody is still hitting for power against lefties so, I don’t mind him platooning. Plus, the Tigers absorb most of Jacque’s salary, right?

actually
the reported deal was Graham Taylor for Jacque Jones
never was Amezaga involved in a deal
also, neither team backed out…. but MLB stepped in for some reason
ok
it was my fantasy site that reported Amazega for Jones, but that have given inaccurate info before.

In his first three extended spring games
Jones is 5-11 (2-4, 2-4, 1-3). He hit two homers in his first game.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
