Stadium News - Sort of

The Florida Marlins have chosen a contractor to build the new stadium .

Marlins Select Hunt Construction To Build New Ballpark Hunt Construction, a general contractor that has constructed four retractable roof stadiums, will build the Marlins’ new downtown ballpark pending Miami-Dade (FL) County approval...

Hunt Construction has built several retractable roof stadiums , but only one designed by HOK Sport .  That one being the University of Phoenix Stadium, but no baseball stadiums.  However, they have built many open air baseball stadiums  designed by HOK Sport. So they have worked together before.

I've read the stadium agreement and it says something about a local contractor must be used in the construction of the stadium.  Hunt Construction has offices in Tampa and Orlando, maybe that is local enough with them being Florida.

The Marlins have lawyers on retainer, so I'm guessing choosing Hunt Construction meets all of the requirements.

This is just step five in the 127 steps to follow to get some shovels in the ground.  But hey, we made this far.
