The Florida Marlins best April ever didn't happen

In terms of a monthly records the Marlins didn't set the April record for wins, only tied the existing record of 15, previously set by the 1997, 2004 and 2005 teams.  Not bad, really, though the chance was there to do better.

However, the 2008 Marlins did set a new April home run record .

Another noteworthy item is the 36 homers established a team mark for April. Previously, the mark was 35 in 2001.

Woo Hoo!  The Marlins surpassed the old record on Tuesday when Danny hit his solo shot.  Which means I need to read my media guide more often since I didn't know that until today.  (In case you were wondering, Yes, I paid for it.  FishStripes is not considered media by the team.  Which is no big deal.)

Jim Presley may want to use color and bullet points in his next memo to the hitters encouraging them to quit swinging for the fences.  Especially since the last one definitely didn't take hold.
