The Marlins strange off-day

The Marlins are in Washington D.C. to face the Nationals, which is normal given they are a divisional opponent.   But oddly the team will get a day-off after the first game, so they are looking for something to fill the time.

The Marlins will get their first look at the Nationals new home tonight, then get Tuesday off before resuming the three-game series Wednesday.

"Maybe I'll take the boys to the Smithsonian to give the boys a little culture," Gonzalez said about how to spend the off day.

Gonzalez also noted that the Marlins will be staying in a hotel that has been in the news lately. The team will be at the Mayflower Hotel, where former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzermet a prostitute, a liaison that forced Spitzer to resign this past month after it became public.

I will leave the prostitute story alone.  But if you happen to be in the D.C. area you now know which hotel's lobby you need to hangout at, should you want an autograph.

It has been about a thousand years and a couple of lifetimes ago since I went to the Smithsonian and I'm sure things have changed since then, but unless it has gotten smaller -- there is no way to see everything in it in just one day.

But I guess that doesn't mean, you can't try.

Culture...

I went for the first time during opening week last year. Let's just say if Fredi and "the boys" are anything like me, their favorite exhibit will be the EXIT sign.

Can we just have our bullpen start, bring in a "starter" for middle relief, and have Gregg seal the deal?

Build a stadium downtown and I'll buy season tickets

we're just not loved anywhere

In addition to the off-day tomorrow, the game is not on TV Wednesday. At least not in South Florida.

It just mystifies me as to why all of the games aren't on TV

but on the plus side Rich and Tommy can take an extra day to look for the EXIT sign
