Fredi Gonzalez scraps Key West

Fredi had a change of heart on for Jupiter instead.

The Marlins were off Thursday but Gonzalez spent the day in Jupiter, watching right fielder Jeremy Hermida and catcher Mike Rabelo play for the Class A Hammerheads.

The Marlins' manager scrapped his plans to ride his motorcycle to Key West so he could determine how soon his two players might rejoin the Marlins.

"I was planning to go down there, but I was having breakfast this morning and I changed my mind to come up here to watch these guys play a little bit," said Gonzalez, who was joined by Marlins first-base coach Andy Fox.

"It's important to watch these guys play and I'll get an opportunity to see some of the younger guys, also.''

I really don't have much to say here other than: wouldn't a trip to Key West and back on a motorcycle be a bit hard on one's back considering how far it is?
