Site Note:  The servers were down during the time I normally write posts for the blog and I have to be at work incredibly early, so the Open Thread is it for today.  Sorry about that.

Now onto the game.

The NL East Leading Marlins are in Milwaukee to play three against the Brewers.

Olsen, I'm not going to say much about Olsen, other than, he has historically pitched pretty well in Miller Park.  And that the Brewers have some troubles with hitting lefties.  Also, I'm sure the bullpen is glad to see him take the mound.  Hopefully there are no jinxes in any of those sentences.  But now that I think about, forget jinxes, Olsen's the man.  Go get 'em kid.

Gallardo is making his second start of the season since returning from being under the scope on his knee.  He pitched really well, as you can tell from his stats, in his first outing back.  This will be Gallardo's first start ever against the Marlins.

Ichthyomancy is a little different when the Fish are in Milwaukee, besides picking the attendance, player of the game and the AAB pick, you also need to pick the winner of the Sausage Race.  Your choices are: Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog or Chorizo and yes, the points do count.  Last year when the Marlins played the Brewers over the weekend the Sausage Race web page updating guy went on a bender and didn't update the site until the following Monday.  If that happens again, no worries, the points will be added to your score when he comes to.

Hopefully the server fixing guys have everything figured out and we can get Ichthyomancy back into gear.  Good Luck!

I saw that not being mean was the criteria for visiting,

and Hello to all Marlins fans. Honestly, I do like a lot of Florida players like Ramirez & Uggla, and I stopped by from the other BCB after seeing the Marlins post over there earlier.

However, I do want to point out that the comment above in the game thread intro “that the Brewers have some troubles with hitting lefties” is not entirely true. In fact, so far this year it’s probably the thing they do best.

Currently the Brewers rank 5th in the NL in team AVG. VS LHP (.295), 6th in OBP (.360), 1st in slg. % (.525), and 2nd in the NL overall in team OPS VS LHP at .836. Only the Diamondbacks have a higher team OPS VS LHP than the Crew, and 3rd place is about 50 points behind the crew. Pretty sure they are 5-1 VS Lefty With all of that said now, I’m sure Olsen will deal like a 3 hitter tonight.

I’ll be at all 3 this weekend…..

That just goes to show ya that I don't crap about the Brewers....

Actually, I read that somewhere last night. You’d think that by now I would quit trusting the stuff that sports writers write. But nooooo, I never learn.

Welcome to FishStripes!

Hey guys, I'm from Brew Crew Ball

“Ichthyomancy”: I love it. I noticed our High-A affiliate, Brevard County, is playing yours tonight, and lo and behold, Jupiter is starting…Jeff Allison! I had no idea he was still in baseball. Can you tell me what’s going on with him?

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Apr 25, 2008 8:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah Allison returned to professional baseball this season.

Allison is making his fifth start and so far has been pretty solid. He hasn’t gotten win yet but it is not about wins and loses at this point

by craig on Apr 25, 2008 9:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He hadn't pitched since 2005, right?

And he missed 2004 I think. Crazy. Heroin, was it?

He's extremely quick and good.

Right, previous time on the mound was 2005

Actually it was OxyContin and then there was that stealing a car thing and I believe driving it over state lines.

Oh, on the Sausage Race...

as expected the race web site updating guy found something better to do and I didn’t see the race. But this is not a problem since he will update it and I will catch up the results. So points are coming, we just don’t when.
