Today is the day honoring Jackie Robinson in the Major Leagues.

Jackie Robinson Day will be celebrated Tuesday, and Marlins third-base coach Bo Porter will wear No. 42 to mark the occasion.

Porter said Larry Beinfest, the Marlins' president of baseball operations, approached him about wearing Robinson's number.

''I'm honored to wear the jersey,'' Porter said. ``It makes me feel good that Major League Baseball has gone to the extent it has to honor him.''

The Marlins have one fine representative on this day to remember.  I just wish we had more.
