Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Astros (4/13)
Florida Marlins @ Houston Astros
Hmm, we will see if this lineup thingy works.
Now onto the game.
The NL East Leading Marlins are going for another series win today.
Burke "The Hopper" Badenhop will be making his Marlins starting debut. Badenhop is a sinker ball pitcher which is a mighty fine style of pitching for Minute Maid.
Rodriguez normally pitches better in his home park than on the road. Last year he was 6-3 in his 15 home starts posting a 2.94 ERA. Rodriguez is a lefty so expect to see Cody in center.
Ichthyomancy be hating day games but is awake and is ready to take your picks. So, Good Luck!

A Major League reference...
Has anybody noticed our hitters are exactly like Pedro Cerrano from Major League?
Anything not a fastball just gives them fits.

Game observation
Just got home.
I think we have ourselves a starting pitcher. For anybody that didn't see the game, Badenhop pitched much better than his line score indicated. He did three things that Andrew Miller has failed to do so far; 1.) he threw strikes, 2.) he had consistent velocity on his fastball, and 3.) he should poise out on the mound. I say we let Badenhop be the pitcher we showcase from the Cabrera-Willis trade and send Miller to the minors.
Hammer's homer was cool but, although it landed almost exactly where Cantu's shot did, it didn't look as majestic.
Helms sucked both at the plate and in the field. He looked lazy going after that ball that went right past him for a double. That pissed me off more than the fact that he missed the ball.
It's a good thing we have a day off tomorrow because the relievers were all looking kind of drained. I'm not exactly sure where Gregg hit Towles (whether it was the wrist or the hand) but the trainer kept playing with Towles' fingers and they decided to take him out.
We need to get our offense back. Hopefully the day off tomorrow helps them.

sigh
10 runs in game one, 1 run in games two and three combined. Feast or famine.
I was also pleasantly surprised with Badenhop, whom I thought was just a trade throw-in.
Oh well. There's still no reason we can't finish 157-5.
