Burke Bradenhop learning the league

In Burke Bradenhop's major league debut he was a little unclear on the traditions of the game.

Badenhop had one rookie moment Wednesday. After he struck out Rob Mackowiak, Gonzalez called time and motioned for him to throw the ball into the dugout.

After Badenhop stared back in confusion, Gonzalez yelled: "We want the ball!''

Finally, Badenhop tossed the ball back and took a new one, wondering if perhaps it was part of a defensive move. Only when he returned to the dugout after the game did he realize that the Marlins were saving the baseball for him as a memento of his first major-league strikeout.

Rookies.
