Cameron Maybin back in the lineup

Cameron Maybin played for the first time since his recent hamstring problems.

Back in the lineup after tweaking his left hamstring last Friday, Maybin once again found himself starting in center field for the Marlins on Thursday.

In his first at-bat, he slapped the first pitch he saw off Cardinals starter Todd Wellemeyer into left field for a single. If the hamstring was troubling him, you wouldn't have known it.

Given the green light, the 20-year-old stole second base. And in his second at-bat, he grounded sharply to third base. While he was thrown out, his burst of speed to the bag showed that he is moving without any problems.

That is good news, I think.  I'm a little concerned that the week away wasn't enough to keep the organization from rushing him to the bigs.  Especially since he needs more at bats in the minors.  But I would never wish anyone to suffer physical ailments, so I'm glad he is back and looking good.  Now, just let him open the season in Carolina or Albuquerque.
