Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Mets at MarlinsĀ (3/31)
New York @ Florida
It's Opening Day!
I will spare you my rip-off of Thomas Boswell and just leave it at that.
This is the first time to trot out the new Game Thread so I'm not exactly sure what is going on. If I'm able to put the Ichthyomancy table into the thread I will. If not, another solution will be thought of later.
In the meantime, make your Ichthyomancy picks in the comment section as always and let's see what shows up in the thread.
Oh, and Welcome to another season of Marlins baseball and Ichthyomancy!

Back from the game
The game was kind of pitiful. I was proud of the Marlins' fans for booing every time the Mets' fans would start chanting.
BTW--Wiley has Woody's old number 28.

Darn
An inauspicious beginning. Luckily, we've lulled the Mets into a false sense of security and will now proceed to sweep the last two games.
I totally blew it on the attendance. I figured attendance would be down among Marlins fans for obvious offseason reasons, but forgot that it's also opening day for local Mets fans.

Me too
I had some of the 3's in the attendance right but it was just off by about 6,000 people. Oh well. At least I hit my AAB.
This is the best day of the year to be off. I have done nothing but watch baseball all day. I got to watch our game on mlb.tv (well, after Hammer's homer anyway when my mlb.tv decided to quit being retarded and actually work) and the Cubs-Brewers, Nats-Phillies (while the Cubs game was in a rain delay), Twins-Angels and now the Astros-Padres on tv. What a great day!

Thoughts
It's not just the Marlins opening day. It's for everybody. I must of seen at least 8 or 9 other teams jersey's today. Mets, Red Sox, Cubs mostly, but also Texas, Milwaukee, Yankees, Atlanta, Philadephia, etc
Why did the switch Ross and Cantu in the batting order after they were already announced?
Santana was good. Very good.
What no souvenir cups this year? Lame.
The new club zone is nice. Very nice.
Watching Castillo bunt a single and stealing 2nd brought back a lot of good memories of my favorite Marlins of all time. It's good to see he still has it.

Ugly, but not as bad as the Pirates choke
Did anyone see them choke on the final out of the game. Bay and McClouth let a routine fly ball land between them and allow the Braves to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th. Ugly!

I was at the game...
sat in the fish tank. a small group of mets fans had a sign that said "shea stadium south". they got cheers from other mets fans and a lot of boos from marlins fans. when I went out to get a hotdog I found out that they were kicked out of the stadium by the security. I assume they were just being really loud and causing a ruckus. they kept arguing with other fans and just generally being annoying.

Congratulations to all today's winners! If I missed anyone or anything, please let me know.
I'm going to wait a few days before entering the numbers in the leaders table in order to get as many names as possible in the listing.
