Marlins walking wounded report
Once again, we look at where the Marlins stand with some of the medically questionable.
Gonzalez said right fielder Jeremy Hermida will start the season on the disabled list and play his first game of the season April 5 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gonzalez is optimistic center fielder Cody Ross will be ready Monday. Ross and Hermida played in a minor-league game Thursday as designated hitters. Ross will play again in Jupiter on the field while Hermida will play again as the DH.
Hermida, if he does go on the DL, will open the season in Jupiter. In other words, the club feels he will be available to play against the Pirates. While this isn't the best of news for Hermida, it is great news for the young Hammerheads. Jeremy will be on the hook to buy the spread for the first two games of the season.
Ross, I fully expect to see in the lineup on opening day. One, I think he will be ready. Second, even if he isn't, he will more than likely lie and fake it enough to get the start.
