Florida Marlins make their first cuts
Seeing how the Minor League training camp could use some extra players and the Major League camp had way too many, the Marlins made their first cuts yesterday.
As reported by Mbaamin in the comments yesterday, eleven players were cut from the Major League camp.
Presumably Jorge Piedra was released in order to give him a chance to catch on with another team. The others are just going to where they were always projected to end up.

More cuts
The team optioned right-handed pitchers Eulogio De La Cruz and Scott Nestor to Triple-A Albuquerque. Outfielder Jai Miller also was optioned to the Isotopes.
Additionally, second baseman Chris Coghlan was reassigned to Minor League camp.
The transactions trim the roster to 56.
