Jeff Conine special assistant

Jeff Conine accepted the job as special assistant to the Marlins president.

Jeff Conine, nicknamed Mr. Marlin, has accepted a standing offer from the club to become a special assistant to team president David Samson. The meetings in Las Vegas are his first official duties with the team.

Conine's role will be similar to special assistants Andre Dawson and Tony Perez. He will be at Spring Training observing and offering instruction, and during the season, he will visit the Marlins' Minor League affiliates. Off the field, Conine will be active in the community representing the organization.

I can't think of a better person to assume the role.  Now, if Mr. Marlin can succeed where others have failed and teach Samson the meaning of word decorum, we will be all set.
