Andy Sonnanstine vs Joe Blanton

2008 - Joe Blanton 4-0 13 13 0 0 0 0 70.2 66 36 33 10 31 49 4.20 1.37

And the series marches on.  Tonight the Phillies will be trying to extend their lead and the Rays are hoping to tie it up again.

Sonnanstine does a good job of eating innings, but the Rays need to find a way to limit the number of errors in the field when he is on the mound.  Job one for Sonnanstine is to keep the ball in the park.  If he can do that, he should have a decent outing.

Blanton hasn't pitched since October 13.  Who knows what he is going to do.  Back when he was Oakland, before the trade, he made a start against the Rays.  In that game he didn't get a decision but he did go six innings, giving up six hits and four earned runs.  He has had some trouble with the Rays in past, but none of those starts came on 12 days rest.

Best of Luck to You!

Listen to the music they play during the Rays' introductions.

It’s hilarious. It’s some little kids’ song and the main lyrics are basically, “fish fish fish fish fish fishy fish.”
