Excited
Wow, posts in abundance this morning.  Being a Fish fan, I think we have all learned to look to the future.  We are not a season by season team like the rest of the league.  Instead, we prepare several seasons in advance for one big stand (looks like 2009 if it's every 6 years).  However, I think 2010 is a little more realistic.  I do not think this year will be very good for us, but the talent the team is amassing is really thrilling.  Pitching is young, but really deep.  I'm happy with Wiley, something needs to just be done about the injuries which I think will happen.  In the future we could have a rotation of: Olsen, Anibal, Johnson, Miller, Mitre plus the abundance of minor leaguers with bright futures (Volstad, Hernandez, Sinkbeil, West).  With a few years under their belt I don't just foresee success but dominance.  This doesn't even take into consideration the bullpen which is becoming more and more experienced.
I also think there's a great potential for serious power hitting with more innings played. Hopefully we get lucky and get a year like we had 2 years ago.

On another note, I saw the construction crews taking the letters down off the OB the other day, then last night had a nightmare that the OB was already 75% torn down.  Really, very sad.  It's really frickin upsetting knowing that they're doing this and the Stadium deal is not in place yet.  Let us pray...

Our father, who art in heaven...
I'm already having nightmares about finding a place to park. As much as I'm all for boosting the economy, trying to find a patch of lawn to rent 81 times a year gives me a very strong desire to become one of those "tv fans" the organization is always complaining about.

Two words (and a symbol):
Park & Ride.

Or, as I always did for UM games: park & walk (& walk some more & stop at that gas station on the corner for a drink & walk some more).

Phils Outlook
Off topic a bit, but related... ran across Phillies outlook for 2008. No mention of the Fish contending! :( haha

Phillies troll?
If not, I'm not sure I get the joke. If it is a troll, I'm impressed that a Phillies fan actually knows how to read. Unless, of course, someone just told him what it said.

Gonzo still a possibility for Fish
I think. Not sure if this is still true, but buried within ESPN.com's article about the looming Erik Bedard trade is the following Fish Nugget:
If the Mariners trade Jones, one of their chief options to fill that vacancy is Luis Gonzalez.

Two baseball sources who have spoken to the Mariners say Seattle has been in contact with Gonzalez's agent, Greg Clifton, and has indicated that if the Bedard trade happens, the Mariners are "very interested" in Gonzalez.

Clifton declined comment on which clubs have pursued Gonzalez. However, indications are that Florida also has interest in Gonzalez as a veteran mentor for its young players.

Well, I guess I can see that. I was critical of signing him before (and still am if it'll cost too much), but he's a positive clubhouse guy whose won a title before, so maybe it's a good fit. Just don't look for him to hit 20 HRs.

Lurch beats Santanta Head to Head this year
At least once.  Mark my words.
