Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Phillies (8/9)

Unfortunately the Marlins, once again, find themselves in sweep avoidance mode.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Sergio Mitre.

The Phillies plan to counter with Kyle Kendrick.

Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Mitre has pitched at least six innings in nine of his last ten starts.  He pitched pretty well in his last start but a three-run home in the sixth sunk the effort, those happen.  He had better command of his sinker in his outing than he did in his previous two starts.  If he can kick his sinker into gear, he should do fine, even in that bandbox they call a stadium.

Kendrick is a rookie and is doing that first time through the league never seen him before thing.  He is a sinker ball pitcher and has yet to lose at home.  The Phillies have him on a pretty strict pitch count so he shouldn't be around for much after his one-hundredth pitch.  Lefties are doing all the good against him and righties, not so much.

Ichthyomancy is looking for a Marlins long overdue win streak.

Here's today's Ichthyomancy pick table:

umbrellas
are allowed in every stadium up here... philly, new york mets, new york yanks, boston...

also, i heard today that the stadium deal with UM to move to JRS is nearly certain, however the mayor of miami is most likely to force the marlins into the Orange Bowl site, which will solve and possibly create more problems because of parking and mass transit. Its a win lose i suppose... oh, and the last bill didn't pass  because the senators couldn't agree whose name came first on the bill..
