Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Padres at Marlins (5/5)

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

The Marlins are getting their first try at the series win tonight, and trust me, while it won't be an easy accomplishment this evening, it will be even tougher tomorrow.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Serigo Mitre.

The Padres plan to send David Wells to the mound of dirt in the middle of infield. Oh, he is a lefty so Cody should be in the lineup.

Game time is 7:05 p.m.

This is Mitre's first major league start since coming off the DL for a blister problem.  Historically he hasn't had much luck against the Padres but if he can avoid the long ball he should be fine.

Batting against Wells will be a first time experience for most of the Marlins.  He can be extremely tough when he is on, but if he is not, he can be lit up.  Hopefully the latter will show.  The Padres normally give him a lot run support.  I have never figured out why this happens for certain pitchers and not others, but nonetheless, they hit for him.

I wanted to say something about this yesterday, but I was pressed for time.  So today I will.  If FishStripes has a sister site in the SB Nation, it is GasLamp Ball.  We came into existence about the same time and somewhere along the line we became friends.  Or an irritation, it is really hard to say.  Dex and jbox are great guys along with all the GasLamp Ballers and you should check them out if you get the chance.  They are the funniest and most irreverent folks in the SB Nation.  Sometimes we try to be, but they succeed.

Oh, Dex and jbox, I spelled your site's name correctly would you mind spelling ours the way it should be, there is no space between Fish and Stripes.  Bozos.

Ichthyomancy is ripe for the taking. If haven't joined in, what are you waiting for?

I've been to a few games and I think there are a  bunch of "seasoned veterans", if you know what I mean.
