Around SBN: Stan Van Gundy Fired As Head Coach Of The Magic

Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Mets (5/2)

The Marlins are back to .500 and are looking to return the favor to the Mets and sweep them at their home park.  It has been about three years since the last time the Fish swept the Mets in New York.

Today's starting pitcher is Anibal Sanchez.

The Mets have on their mind Oliver Perez.

Game time is 1:10 p.m.

Anibal looked better in his last outing.  He has historically done pretty well against the Mets but his career ERA in day games is almost double that of his night game starts.

Perez tends to have good control, walking few and posting a lot strikeouts.  His best game of the season, so far, was a day time start.  But his history against the Fish is none to impressive with a lifetime 5.48 ERA and a 1-2 record.  Perez is a lefty so look for Cody to start somewhere.

Ichythyomancy is ready to roll.  It is a dreaded midweek day game so don't forget to get your picks in by game time.  This also gives me my first opportunity of the season to make this statement: I hate day games!

Here's today's Ichthyomancy pick table:

Oh
I didn't add you AAB pick since it was almost assuredly going to happen.  Neither SP had gone 7.1 innings in an outing this season.  Therefore your pick was almost a lead pipe cinch which really isn't Above and Beyond.

Kinda like no Marlins player will hit for the cycle.  While it's not impossible it could happen but it would be highly unlikely.

Normally, I would inform you of that as soon as possible to give you the chance to change it but unfortunately the day game messed everything up and for that I apologize.

Now had you choosen: SP combine > 14,2 IP, at this point in the season, that would've been a gutsy pick and been worth extra points.

Once again I'm sorry about not being able to let you know sooner.
