Phillies reject Helms offer

The Marlins trade offer for Wes Helms was declined.

Also on the third-base front, the Phillies declined to trade Wes Helms to the Marlins for a minor leaguer after the Marlins asked them to cover more than half of the $2.9 million remaining on Helms' contract.

The Marlins, if you remember, offered Nestor, who has a good arm but may not quite be major league ready.

Unless the Marlins are willing to sweeten the pot or eat some of his salary, Helms won't be rejoining the club.
