Flotsam and Jetsam
Sorry about the lack of post today but I'm in the middle of preparing for another ice storm. I'm not a big fan of snow, but snow can be handled. Ice, on the other hand, I abhor.
But enough about my crappy situation, let's find you something Marlins baseball related to read.
Since interviews are the thing at the moment, Photi came across an interesting interview by Baseball America with Fredi and Manny Acta. Well worth a look.
Finally, The Serious Tip asked the question: Why Hate The Fish? The author examines three recent articles by ESPN and asked the question that comes to his mind. Dr F alluded to the same thing, or at least I think he did, in his comment. I'm starting to think I should have paid more attention when reading "Encyclopedia Brown" in my youth.
Well, that's it for Flotsam and Jetsam for today.

I guess I alluded to it...sort of...?
Any stadium that's mostly empty during a game is going to be depressing. The so-called experts who run down the stadium for that reason are engaging in little more than verbal whacking off. I've knocked the stadium myself, but the reasons have to do with the stadium and its amenities; poor service, some unpleasant sight lines, and a color scheme and decoration that constantly shoves down your throat a mediocre-or-less team in a sport where brain damage is apparently part of the game (see Webster, Mike; Long, Terry; Waters, Andre). It's depressing and, as in that earlier comment, soul-killing baseball-wise. But if you're a basebal fan and there's a game in front of you, why does it matter if there are 5,000 or 50,000 others around you?

Encyclopedia Brown
The Encyclopedia Brown reference was meant to highlight my inability to put this together. It was a slight on me.
I, also, enjoyed the books when I was growing up. But apparently I forgot some of the lessons.
You're right, watching a home game in a stadium with signage and colors for another team is depressing. And it is just wrong.
