Should the Ninth be Forgot and Never brought to Mind

Not our finest moment.

The ball went up and Marlins catcher Matt Treanor's initial thought was two outs, man on first.

Closer Joe Borowski figured the same thing Tuesday during the ninth inning.

Neither noticed Reggie Abercrombie was positioned somewhere between the White House and Washington Monument.

Stride as he might, Abercrombie arrived just in time to watch Alfonso Soriano's pop-up land in front of him and behind backpedaling Dan Uggla.

I guess, these things happen. Alas.
