So guess who I ran into at a bar...

So I'm in Chicago on a trip for school stuff (to keep a long story short) and guess who I run into at a bar. Only one of my favorite Marlins of all time, one of the people most responsible for our World Series Championship, and probably one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. When I ran into him, I felt so guilty trying to talk to him. You see, some jerk had just spent five minutes harrassing him and trying to get some girl to show her boobs to him. All of this made him very uncomfortable, and he just tried to chuckle a bit. So here I come, and I just had to try and talk to him. I approached him outise a bar called Rock-it! in downtown Chicago. He's leaning against the wall after having just fended off this jerk. I say :"hi. I'm from Miami and I've been a big fan of yours for a while. Thanks for what you did for Miami. He said hi, shook my hand and said thanks. Then I asked if I could take a picture, he said yeah, and was pretty impressed with my camera phone. Yeah, a millionare was impressed with my camera phone. In retrospect that's pretty cool. Anyway, I'm honestly trying to fill space and build suspense.

Thanks JP. What a nice guy, here or Chicago.

Sweet.
My closest story would be being at a bar with my brother and his wife and her friends, one of whom somehow knew Castillo.  She called him "for me" (as if I'd have known anything to say) but it rang through, so I got to hear his voicemail message.

So yeah, meeting and talking to and having your picture with JP is about a billion times better than that.

Now we just need to set up FishStalker, to map any other sightings.  Though that probably just sounds weird to anyone who doesn't read Gawker, which would likely be no one else, what with the NY-centricity.

Also, I tend to ramble when it's 5am and I'm sliding back towards sober.

Fish Stalker
is actually a great idea.  Could it be set up as a sidebar so it wouldn't get lost in new diaries?  We could keep a photo/written log of all the Fish and former Fish we meet.
(The closest I've come to meeting a former fish was nearly getting run over by Carlos Delgado trying to leave Shea.  At least I think it was Carlos, the windows were tinted.)

If y'all are serious about doing this
I will gladly put it the right sidebar.

Let me know.

I'd be great for this
During spring training, a bunch of them come to where I work. Vargas, Tankersley and Beckett are all in the computer. And I'm sure there are others.

Movin On Up
If I had any doubts about JP, they were put to rest by the vintage George Jefferson t-shirt.  Nice.
