Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Mets (4/7)

[editor's note, by wiggins] - Last one from Craig (that he can't post himself) - we hope

Tonight Jason Vargas will take the hill while the Mets will send forth Steve Trachsel.

The game is at Shea Stadium and first pitch is at 7:10 p.m.

For our reader in Alaska, please forgive me for what I am about to say:  At game time it is expected to be very cool with the highs in the upper fifties and a chance of rain showers.

It will be interesting to watch how Jason handles the conditions and whether he can get a good enough grip on the ball to make his slider break.  It could prove to be a difficult task but I have faith in him.

Trachsel pitched in six games last season before a herniated disk put an end to his season.  It will be also interesting to see whether he can keep his back warm.

Last I heard a deal was worked out so that the game will be seen in the South Florida area on cable TV.  I hope that remains true.

Ichtyomancy is up and running.  Be sure to get your picks in on time.

Go Fish!

Oops.
Crappy AAB pick there, sorry.

How about - the first six hitters in the line-up all get multiple hits.

By the way - am I seeing things or do we actually have a repeat of a line-up tonight?

This sucks.
Excuse me - TFS.

Points.
Dr F wins the attendance.

No player points in the depressing blowout.

AAB picks - I think only Colombo got his.  Anyone else?

I got my AAB?
Sweet, even in the loss, lol. I was out getting hammered. Last I heard Mets were up 5-1 with Welly pitching.

Back from the game...
...and it was every bit as depressing in person.

I'll make a diary with pictures tomorrow.  My camera went dead sometime during the game, so our sightings of Vargas, Cabrera and, of all people, Omar Minaya went unphotodocumented.

Oh well, I will save stories for tomorrow.

And I haven't seen the box, but I'm pretty sure I just missed out on my AAB (by my memory, Jacobs had two hits to match Delgado, and neither Hammer nor Lo Duca hit safely... where's the 'greater than or equal to' symbol when you need it...)

And one other thing...
That announced attendance was bullshit.  They did one of those "here's the numbers in the attendance figure; try to put them in order" contests, and while I was half-jokingly saying it was 13+, even the people honestly guessing went with 19+.  31k my ass.

Oh right, sorry about the cursing.  I'm just taking out my frustration on the attendance figure.

I'll get this right eventually...
So I go to the box to check, and find that I did not recall the attendance correctly.  39k, not 31.  Which just hammers home the point even more.

Gah.

Sorry
I didn't get my stuff in today. I fell asleep after school and woke up in the 2nd inning when my friend texted me with "fuck jason vargas".
