It's Valentine's Day -- C'mon, Fess Up

Ok - so who's got something good cooking for Valentine's Day? I'm sure that someone around here does.

Yes, Fishfan, I'm looking at you. If you go out and get engaged tonight we expect to hear about it.

Then we'll try to talk you out of it. And then we'll try to get invited to the bachelor party.

tonight's menu:
braised tuna, cooked in a wok with tamarind pulp, ginger, shallots, garlic, soy sauce, and a variety of other things.

spiced nyonya rice

sauteed spinach

chocolate-hazelnut mousse cake (this one better be damn good, as it was quite labor-intensive)

Dinner at Provencale
Followed up by my first opera, Barber of Seville.

Unfortunately, I cannot take credit for planning it, that was all Summer Wheatley's doing.  I just footed the bill.  This semester has been more nuts than last, so I couldn't plan anything.  I did get her a card, though, and put up with opera.

Actually (and I know I'll get man points subtracted for saying this) I really liked the Opera.  It was pretty hilarious.  Two bad things:

(1) They decided to do the chicken dance in the middle.  I'm actually not kidding.  I think they're trying to connect with the modern audience... from 1997.

(2) The best song was the second song of the night.  Other stuff was good, but there's a reason everyone knows one song from that Opera, it's the best one.

On the upside, I just realize it's hard to lose man-points for liking an opera when a fellow fishstriper sings the stuff for a living.

Thank Wiggins for always making me feel better about myself.

But you're not engaged?
I'm disappointed. I figured someone would be today.

Yup.
That is a good aria - and I sing the shit out of it, bitch!

...and yes - my job here is to make everyone else feel better about themselves.  I take pride in that.  I hope you all appreciate that.

Because it was Tuesday?
Or because it was Valentine's Day?
