Yes, I know we shouldn't be writing off 2005, b/c we have a rather decent shot at making the playoffs this year, but since everybody else has started discussing different aspects of next year already, I might as well start talking about what I've found out about the schedule. (Keep in mind this is all tentative.)
I found a teeny-tiny picture of the 2006 schedule on the Marlins' official site. It's a picture of the promotional magnet being given out on the last day of the regular season (if anyone's planning on going to that game and can pilfer one for me, I would be WAY appreciative). It's such a small pic that all I can make out are the off-days and whether the games are home or away.
Some features of the 2006 schedule:
1.) No 4-series homestands OR road trips, but a larger number (than last year) of 3-series homestands and road trips.
2.) The annual week with 2-game series on Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday/Thursday (this year it was early in the season back in April when we visited WSH for 2 games followed by 2 games against NYM) appears to be set for the first week in May (the fish are home for Monday/Tuesday, 5/1-2, and go out of town for 5/3-4 before coming back home).
3.) Interleague action will be against the AL East. My guess is the Fish are going to TB 5/19-21, but I can't figure out when the series at JRS is. Also, there will be a series at home against the Red Sox 6/30 - 7/2. Early indications are that Baltimore and TB will be the other teams that visit, and the Fish will go to NYY and TOR.
4.) (NOTE: These specifics will be drawn out after the fold; if you get lost in this paragraph, check below.) The Fish almost ALWAYS have an equal or greater number of home games remaining to be played than road games. In fact, the only time when they will have played more home games than road games is Sept. 10 - 17th. They will have played 71 of each after the 9th, and by the 13th will have played 75H/71R, at which point they go on their final road trip, and conclude with 6 games at home. I personally like this, b/c we almost always have more home games than road games to look forward to. For example, at the ASB, the Fish will have played 38 home games and 49 road games.
Below the fold, I list the schedule day-by-day, and I will update it as teams release their 2006 schedules (since some teams will obviously release them before the Fish do, usually the ones with no postseason aspirations). Mike/Craig/Wiggins, I ask your help in keeping this diary toward the top of the list of "Recent Diaries" so people can readily access it. Thanks!
Also: If anybody notices some dates before I get the chance to add them here, leave them in the comments, please. Thanks!
