Open thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Phillies (9/10)
We get what looks like another good pitching matchup tonight (7:05) with Jason Vargas and Brett Myers. This is a borderline must-win game for the Marlins. Actually, last night's game was much the same.
Nuke LaLoosh A.J. Burnett was a huge disappointment last night. After the game McKeon expressed his disappointment in Burnett's continued poor performance. When asked whether Burnett would make his next scheduled start (on Wednesday in Houston against Roger Clemens), McKeon was non-commital. I'm not sure who'd they start in place of Burnett, but all things considered, it's not very positive. Maybe we'll feel better about things after tonight's game.
It's once again time for ichthyomancy. If you've been playing all season, please make your picks today. If you've never played before - start today. It doesn't cost anything, it's fun, and it's free.
Here's today's ichthyomancy pick table:

Picks
34,000.
Wiggins: Sucks. And if that doesn't count, the number of runs Vargas allows is twice the number of hits he gets.

Danielle gets her nails done during the fourth inning. If that doesn't work - Delgado has 6 RBI.

Houston
Monday: Willis vs. Backe.
Tuesday: Beckett vs. Rodriguez.
Wednesday: Burnett vs. Clemens.
Thursday: Vargas vs. Pettitte.
I definitely think the first two games are the most winnable, what with A.J. pitching the way he has, Roger pitching the way HE has, and Vargas still kinda cutting his teeth.

Nice work
I wonder what the plan is with him. If they didn't need him for the playoff push, I'm sure they'd shut him down and prepare him to do some work in the Caribbean this winter on throwing fewer pitches.
This is not encouraging for a guy who's supposed to be our #4 starter next year.
It's a deal.

Fear the Redneck.
BTW, can anybody help me out? I'm trying to do my scorecard for the game right now (I was out at a play b/c... well, b/c the Phils got out to an early lead and I was being pessimistic, to be honest. Anywho, the roster on the official website doesn't list a number for Johnson. What number was he wearing?

What do you think?
Points
Wiggins and Stranded get a point for Delgado. Conine, Johnson, Jones, and LoDuca were also worthy of point consideration for last night's win.
